Howdy all.

The lamp prominently featured in this video by The White Stripes is one of the coolest lamps I've yet seen.
If anyone sees it at a reasonable price in good condition, please e-mail me at.... michael@thethriftshopper.com and I'll arrange payment and shipping.
p.s. Hotel Yorba is a pretty great song too.

The downside is that you can't really tell what color it is because of the weird white balance in the film/video.  You'd think it could be green, but then again, it could be gold.

I'll keep my eyes peeled.  Of course, if I do find it, you'll have to come out and pick it up.

I've seen those before.  The ones I saw were make of a smoke grey color glass, and had a light in the base.

I forgot to mention when I talked to you on the phone today, but when I was shopping yesterday a local thrift had a similar lamp (not the exact one) with teak accents, but they wanted over $100 for it.  I liked it, but I'll wait till they lower the price on it.

Cool lamp.  I don't see too many lamps I like at thrifts, but lately I have found a few good ones.  I found this set of teak lamps at the Salvation Army that is good again (new mangement- what a difference!) for ten bucks.

I also found this art deco Aladdin lamp at the food bank thrift for seven dollars.  The base lights up too.

I appreciate anyone who can look at a video or a movie and then become obsessed with... a lamp. Smiley

I was recently watching episodes of Northern Exposure and became all excited when I remembered all the awesomely gaudy early 1900s fringed lamps of Maurice's.

PS I think I've seen Valley's yellow-green lamp at the thrifts before. Not any quite like the one you're looking for, though, Good Buddy.

Hey! I'm doing okay. Been ages since I've had time to visit here-- I'll shoot you an email. Smiley

(And you KNOW I will be keeping my eyes peeled for that lamp. Since I'm already Lamp Obsessed anyway. This gives me a legitimate excuse, if it's for someone else! Smiley

Nice to see you are alive and well, Romantic me girl.

I was gone for a while myself.  The folks here, though, are so cool and mellow; and the stuff that makes me crazy is just never brought up, which makes all this moth-ball-smelling stuff seem like a breath of fresh air.

Glad to see you back.

Nice to see you back TSR!  I haven't seen any lamps like in the White Stripes video, but I did get a pretty cool pair of MCM lamps last Thursday at the Sal Army.  I paid $26.00, which is alot for me.  One needs a repair on the cord, but considering their large size I figured I would regret it if I did not get them.

Cool and potentially a good weapon, too. Smiley

Valley and BigDaddy- Nice to see you both! I didn't actually not visit here because of anything going on here-- I enjoy the place and the folks. I just had a lot going on outside of thrifting so I had to focus a bit.

Hey Valley, I once found a lamp exactly like those.  I paired it with a funky brown velor shade that was  a patchwork of several brown velor fabrics.  I found in a thrift shop for $1.  Everyone took notice of the lamp whenever anyone visited.  My roommate's uncle commented how much he loved it every time he visited.  Eventually, we just gave it to him.

These lamps had shades on them at the store, but they were ugly and did not compliment the lamps, so I left them behind.  That was nice of you, Jay, to give your lamp away, I have been looking for a nice large lamp to pair up with my Lane end table and Danish modern chairs.  When I get the whole thing set up I will post a pic.

And yes TSR I guess they are handy to have around in case of an intruder!

Those are REALLY COOL lamps.  I sometimes look at lamps, but out here, there's nothing anywhere near as cool as those.

Re-wiring a lamp is not a difficult process.
