We can only go thifting when we need something?  WOW!
Whose idea was that?  Now I 'll never be able to go thrifting again!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously though, when I get in the kind of mood you are in, that's when I grab my car keys and head to my favorite thrift.  Fortunately for me, it is only a mile or so from my house.
I'll give you some inspiration though.  Yesterday my DH surprised me by saying he wanted to go to the thrift shop and look for jeans.   After I recovered from my near heart attack, I told him I couldn't go but DD volunteered to go with him.  I even gave him one of my carefully hoarded $5 off  coupons.  He came home a while later said he had found, with my coupon and DD's help, 5 new pairs of jean (tags still attached) and a silk blouse (OK that was for DD) for the grand total of $25.  I am slowly but surely converting him. Maybe even this century.
Now get your keys and go girl!!!!!!!!!!

It's funny, I feel the same way this morning, I live close walking distance to my favorite thrift, about 5 blocks, & I'm just waiting until they've been open long enough for more new books to have been stocked. (They open at 10:00 am), it's a little after 11:00 now. I'm tired but still am in the mood.
Oh, Akgem, I live in Anchorage, do you live in Ak?

I lived in Alaska for 15 years.  I went to UAF (met my husband there even tho we are both from the Boston area) and then stayed.  We came back to MA for a couple years, then went back up.  14 years in Fairbanks and 1 in Wasilla.  Loved, loved it there and miss the quality of life!  Are you from Anchorage?  We have some good friends there.

Yep, Anchorage...Been here since 1993. Have lived in Minnesota, Oregon, Colorado, Nebraska, New Mexico, Maine, Michigan, & as soon as I landed here I knew I'd hit "home". Love it here. I volunteer at the Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) & really enjoy meeting visitors from all over the world who come here to visit. And sometimes people even ask where a thrift store is! I can wax eloquent.....

Well, did you ever go?  Find anything good?

I was really in the mood to buy something today so after striking out at my two usual spots I went over to the Sal Army I swore not to go to anymore and actually found something decent.  A shabby chic "Paris apartment" style vintage picture frame.  I paid 8 bucks for it, which is actually a decent price for that store.  It had a really ugly painting in it.  I should have taken a picture before I tossed it, maybe the Museum of Bad Art would have wanted it.  I think the ugly painting may have helped me get a better price for the frame.  I am going to try to find an old distressed mirror for it, but if not I will just put a new mirror in it.
