Designer purses:  I buy them to keep AND sell. And while I don't mind paying $15 for a FAKE Coach for myself, i really want to know my stuff before advertising on EBAY.  This week alone, I have been fA*guccie'd by a fake Gucci and rammo'd by a fake Ferragamo.  How does one tell the diff these days - with the incredibly life like knock offs that are out there - complete with the same tags and quality leather?

I would visit the department stores and really look at the real purses to get a sense of what you would never see on them.  Also there are some websites that will tell you what to look for in fakes, do a google search.

Honestly, if the fakes are that hard to spot I wouldn't bother trying to sell them, too much of a headache.

We were told by eBay the only way to know if an item is real or fake is if you are holding the original sales receipt for the item.  This makes it quite impossible to list that Chanel bag that could land you in hot water with eBay.

Ebay does monitor auctions for some of the higher end labels like Chanel Louis Vuitton etc.  They will remove listings if you don't state proof of authenticity.  Some brands seem to go under the radar like Coach, but yes if someone reports you you can get into trouble with Ebay & your registration can be revoked.

If you're interested in selling designer purses I would first get them either authenticated by their designated store i.e. Louis Vuitton.  Another option could be this website:

http://forum.purseblog.com/

You would have to sign-up to use the forum, but it's definitely worth it.  They have a section that helps to authenticate purses and some of the bigger name purses have their own sections like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermes, etc.  Most of the time a member that knows the brand very well can either tell you if it's a fake or not.  They'll need clear pictures and the pictures should include the zipper pull and anything else that is a major detail about the purse.  I signed up to see if I could find a real Louis Vuitton purse on eBay and they seem pretty good at spotting what is fake with a purse.  Good luck.
