Still.  In late November I went to browse in my favorite thrift shop because I had a little time before I had to go to work.  To my shock and horror, it was all papered over and a sign on the front said "Lost our Lease.  Had to close."  I was gobsmacked.  I had been there only a couple of days earlier and there was no indication of any sign at all they were closing.
A small item in a local paper said only they had closed, the landlord wanted to "go in another direction", whatever the heck that means.  Likely mean he or she has visions of some expenisve store or business relocating there.  Although the thrift shop was the only business that has survived in that location more than a few months, and a number of the store fronts in the strip mall are vacant.
Anyway, everyone is talking about it.  At work, people I didn't even know shopped there are talking about it, at the bank, at
the grocery store.
Don't know if it will happen but hope the customer base is large enough they re-open somewhere close.
Till then I am stuck with a usually barren GW and a less than useless ST Vinneys.

My condolences!!

It's awful to lose a good thrift.  It's tragic when that's the only good thrift in your area.

I'm still in mourning for the three closed Village Thrift stores, even though they were in very dicey neighborhoods.  As is the sole remaining one.  Plus a VERY good Salvation Army store closed just this year.

If dicey doesn't bother you, you might run across some decent finds.. I went today (so much for no thrifting in Jan..) and picked up some very nice things. Prada, Armani, Bahama, Dior, and half a dozen nice jeans. All in the heart of Little Mexico. Unfortunately, I can't go there on sale day though, it's WAY too packed and not a cart in sight.
