I can't say that I found some awesome treasure for DH at the ts, but I am looking! In the meantime, I bought a red glass heart tea light holder and a topiary looking thing that has a velvet heart swathed in red feathers and is funky quirky fun. Are you finding any 'sweet' deals for the 14th?

The topiary sounds pretty hysterical! You'll have to let us know where it ends up in your home.

I just found a 50s planter of a heart with a cupid on it at the Salvation Army. It was $1.06 with tax. Smiley

I could have made a really good Valentines find, if I hadn't taken too long to think it over & then it was snatched when I had my back turned!

I was at the one independant thrift we have here last week, I usually don't find too much there, they sell on Ebay too.  I spied several unopened boxes of valentines day cards on a table.  They were older Looney Tunes cards, the kind kids give out at school.  I looked at the copyright date on the box & it was 1980.  My first thought was that Looney tunes stuff from the 80's is probably not hard to find, it was so popular then (I was a faithful watcher on Saturday mornings).  There were boxes of cards with the most popular characters & then a few boxes with just specialty characters. the box that got my attention was the Foghorn Leghorn set.

Anyway there were only two other people in the store so I turned my back to look at something else & think about the cards, when I revisitied them- they were gone!  To torture myself I looked at Ebay when I came home & saw that there were no old Looney Tunes cards like that & Foghron Leghorn stuff is quite popular (probably not as mass produced as bugs bunny, etc.)  I am so mad at myself for passing up the cards!    Huh

Valley - ah uh. You violated one of the ten commandments of thrifting!! Don't leave the item lie while you are trying to make up your mind. Pick it up, walk around the store with it while you are deciding. You can *always* put it back where you found it if you decide that you can live without it. I feel for you though. I've broken that commandment too many times. I *think* I've learned my lesson though. until next time.

Yes, one of the low points in my thrifting career, I've learned my lesson- grab first, think after.

Oh how true! I have made this mistake so many times, thinking "surely nobody wants that" and darn if I hadnt missed out on the item because somebody indeed did want that! Now I have learned my lesson and pick it up and walk around with it, if I truely dont want it I just return it back to where it was! oh well, say la vie! Cheesy

Well, a lesson learned is never a waste...

I'm sorry about the Foghorn cards (gosh, I think I remember those)... But this way when the next great thing comes along, you'll have renewed wisdom... and grabbit!

Thanks, on the plus side I have been finding some interesting Christmas items.  The manager of the better Salvation Army in the area has decided that they have so much Christmas stuff still that they are going to put it out at super cheap prices to get rid of it. (.25 cents to a dollar for most items).  Today I got some more vintage ornaments to add to the collection including some shiny brites & occupied japan (I didn't have any of those yet).

I answered yet another freecycle offer, this time for an vintage etched wall mirror that sounds really nice.  The woman is actually going to drop it off too, how easy is that?  If it is as good as I hope I'll post a pic.

Wow, Valley, you're doing really well right now-- sounds great. Can't wait to see the vintage mirror. There are some great ones out there.

Here's the mirror, it is quite large.  I was hoping it would have more detailing in the etched design, but freecyclers can't be choosers!  The pie crust edge is nice, but sharp.  I wanted something for over the sofa but I am afraid if it ever fell off the wall it might behead someone.  I think it will go in the bathroom, the mirror on the medicine cabinet is similar in design.  Not bad for a freebie.

I've done the same thing....and totally regretted it later.  *sigh*

Valley - You've redeemed yourself with that mirror. Makes up for the valentines. How big is the mirror? I've been pricing them in non-thrifts and am aghast!!! DD picked up one similar in style to yours at ts - looks fabulous hanging!! good job.
