I found a great book at an estate sale last week.  A perky little number called The Gallery of Regrettable Food by James Lileks.  LOL funny.
This author has a collection of those little cookbooks put out by food manuacturers from Jello and Seven Up to hot dogs and canned fish.
A warning, not for those faint of heart or easily offended.
I was reading the section about a cookbook called 500 Snacks (a puzzle in itself, maybe only 50 in the whole cookbook.)  When I came to the section called (I kid you not)
Balls on a Stick, I burst out laughing.  DD wanted to  know what was so funny.  As I read her the section about Balls on a Stick with a side of Burning Bush, I can only say I am glad she is grown.
Already a list of others who want to read it.  I'd call it a pretty good buy for $1.
Oh, an Aunt Jenny makes an appearance.  Don't know if all of you recall when TSR did her take on Aunt Jenny,  Jenny's DH Calvin and Spry shortening, but Shee's Bbbbbaaaacccckkkkkk!
Try you local library if you aren't fortunate enough to find one for $1 out treasure hunting.
Book report on my summer reading now over.

You should also check out Interior Desecrations by James Lileks.  I thought it was even funnier than the cookbook.  It's his commentary on hideous decorating schemes from the 60's and 70's.  Really, really funny.
