Sorry to be so "not-involved" lately, but Facebook is a time suck, and it doesn't motivate me to go out and buy things.

Here are my finds over the last few months

- Camo BDU's (they are Army pants - BDU - Battle Dress Uniform) new, my size, $6.00 at a SA in Yuma
- Mavic Wheels with Shimano hubs which fit my gearset from my Gary Fisher Big Sur (also a thrift store find) - $24.00 with IRC Mythos tires and good tubes at St. Vincent de Paul on 7th Street - Kudos to Southwest Bicycle for installing the gearset on the new wheel for nothing.
- jack stands - $12.00 at Goodwill on Indian School.

No significant electronics or great vinyl deals.  It really sucks out there right now.  Even cheap crappola which isn't really garage sale material is on the shelves with $20+ prices.  Admittedly, I have passed on overpriced stuff that I don't need.

Anyway, See you cats and kittens in a few months.

I haven't been in a crazy-gotta-go-thrifting mood lately.  Oh, I've visited Thrift Town, and St. Vincent, and WEAVE, and even the bleeping Goodwill, but I just haven't felt that excitement lately.  Maybe it's because I know prices have gone up everywhere and bargains are harder to find.  Maybe it's because my house has finally reached its saturation point and there's no room for more stuff.  I dunno.  Probably the best things I've found in the last couple of months are a souvenir calendar plate from 1961 (my year!), a pair of jeans that fit (miraculous!), and a couple books, records and CDs.

Shockingly, my total for the year so far (not counting rummage sales and yard sales) is $217.98.  It sounds like a lot but then I remind myself that some people spend that much on one outfit.  Wink

Hey Ya'll this year is just speeding by, and somehow no time for *fun* stuff...I havent been thrifting alot either, busy season at work and I went to an auction...the best auction EVER..came home with two truck loads for 80 bucks, kept 8 little pieces, selling the rest...this poor lady was a hoarder, the family said it took 5 months to put the auction together, it lasted 2 days. A farmhouse and 7 bulidings full, the kids said when they got all the stuff kind of organized, the woman denied it was even hers, and they had lived with it so long..they didnt want any of it..she had 30 sewing machines, 54 rocking chairs....I could go on and on...I will NOT get like that.really.I.swear.

That reminds me of the A & E show Hoarders, they have some episodes up on their website, it's a good one.  That auction sounds like fun though  What kind of stuff did you get?  I went to an estate sale kinda like that with a woman who always went to auctions & thrifted, but in the final years of her life she had Alzheimer's so she really went crazy with the buying.  It was the best sale ever though & I came home with so much stuff!

That does sound awesome, I guess Christmas came early for you!   I miss the days when I could go to big sale and come home w/ a car load of stuff, they just aren't happening around here anymore.  You will do well with that load, glad everything is in good shape, sometimes those horder home are pretty filthy & the stuff gets ruined.
