I got what I sincerely hope is a real Kathy van Zeeland purse today at Thrift World in Philly.  The style is way too "in your face" for my taste, but I was hoping to sell it on eBay.

It has the real(ish?) KvZ lining, and an original KvZ paper tag, but it's also not leather -- although I know a lot of these high-end designers often do stuff in materials other than leather.  The label sewn inside says "Kathy van Zeeland - Made in China" - there again, I know some actual stuff is really made in China (why I don't know -- it's like their national slogan is Poor Workmanship R Us.")

Take a look at the pic and tell me what you think.

Thanks SOOO much!  Grin Grin Grin

I bought a Kathy Van Zeeland bag a month or so ago at the SA for 2 bucks & sold it for $53.00.  Thay are really cheap looking I don't know what the appeal is for them.  They are not real leather & are made in China.  If you have a TJ Maxx nearby they have tons of them, you can compare labels etc.  The brighter & more garish the better in terms of sales.  Mine was silver & a funky patterned fabric.

By the way, I didn't mean to insult anyone that has a KvZ bag, there are some nice styles & real leather ones too, just seems like the popular styles now are the flashy ones with fake materials.

I was looking into selling them at one time as I saw them everywhere at places like TJ Maxx and Steinmart however I researched ebay first and they didn't sell for very high. However that's based on my buying high , not like you. If you find it for a bargain then I'd go for it.

I found a vintage 70's era Coach bag today in good condition for 2 bucks.  It was at the normally overpriced SA too, the only problem is that I cleaned it up & put some leather conditioner on it, the same conditioner I have used on several newer Coach bags.  This time the bag got unevenly dark, I hope I didn't ruin it!  It has been hanging up for a few hours and has started to lighten up, so maybe it will just take a day for the conditioner to absorb. the bag isn't nubuck or suede but maybe old school Coach leather is a little different, I never had a Coach bag that old. Hopefully my sweet deal isn't ruined!

Nice find on the Coach!  I bought a couple of Kathy Van Zeeland bags at a thrift for about $25 each.  My best find so far was a Dooney & Bourke for $25, in perfect condition.  It goes for about $400.  I can't imagine spending that much on a purse.  I'm using it and it's not a very comfortable bag to carry, I can't imagine spending hundreds on something like that.  Shocked

You can find low cost KVZ bags at Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx. If you are a member of the US Military, you can try your local Navy Exchange too!

Don't buy those bags full retail price because they are usually put on sale a month later or you will see those same bags at those stores I mention above.
