I was tied up with other stuff so didn't get to do any thrifting this weekend. I just hate it when that happens!! Friday I did pick up a Cherry Ames book (remember those?) I also bought the decorative metal parts of 5 watch fobs. I don't know what they are called. They are for Cat Dio Tractor, Pettibone Michigan, Oshkosh Trucks, Manitowac Cranes and Marion Steam Shovel. I'm thinking they might sell well and put a few extra coins in my pocket. They aren't as exciting as vintage costume jewelry, but in a pinch will do!! So what did you find?

Yeah, I guess I found a couple things. Did you know there's a Glenn Miller Orchestra album that has songs like Do You Wanna Dance, Love Child, and Hey Jude? Picked that up at the Selden Thrift. Then at the Goodwill up the road, whose record bins I haven't been through in quite a while, I found a couple of albums with Bob McAllister from Wonderama: Kids Are People Too and A Family Christmas...which is still sealed! Would've gotten Zingers From The Hollywood Squares if someone hadn't already gotten it for me...and a Patty Duke album if it weren't in such deplorable shape.

And that $5 Nakamichi cassette deck I picked up just before the holidays sings again! I put in a $6 part and all is awesome in Tapeland. Next patient: those free Boston Acoustics speakers I got 2 weeks ago.

I did not get to go out thrifting either.  We had a yard sale at church and I worked at that.  No good stuff there.

I really had to miss but I will make up for it this weekend.

I did. I have some serious spring fever and just couldn't stay at home. I found some nifty California art pottery over the weekend. One was a cool McCoy vase for $5. It has a small crack at the top, hence the price discount, but it's got style-- a little bit art deco, a little bit art nouveau... I love it.

A large white milkglass vase in the grape pattern I so adore was marked down from four bucks to two.  It is now mine!

And I scored a lovely pink trench coat that was nine bucks... but really six with my three dollar off coupon...

Thriftily,
Alexandra

Oh, yay, Alexandra! Good for you! I know your Imperial grape fondness, so I totally understand what a coup that vase was.

I got back in the game this weekend. My g-daughter is staying with me and I finally decided to move my office into my bedroom and have a guest room. What a great excuse to shop! I found a bed-in-a-bag (1/2 price) and two lamps and bed skirt and a mattress pad. I also found a great sheet set for my bed. I am a fool for nice linens and couldn't resist a wonderful white Ralph Lauren sheet. G-daughter had a great time with the clothes. She got a great pair of sparkly shoes that I have been threatening to steal! LOL!

It was a great 'first time' out. Oh, yeah, I'm not supposed to be out and about yet. LOL! TSing doesn't count - does it? That's like a basic life function.

this past weekend i didn't get to go to the thrift, but 2 weekends ago...

our boys needed a new dresser - RIGHT NOW! their old dresser literally fell apart on friday night. so saturday, rather than drive an hour to IKEA, i suggested we stop at SA after the farmers market. i had something in mind at IKEA - well, 2 new dressers actually. would have cost approx. $300. we went into SA and we got one dresser - now they don't need two. and, are you ready for the price??? it was marked down to $40! i felt so pleased. plus, i found this great, huge crockery jug for lemonade in the summer for $5. it was a great 20 minutes, and my husband (who hates going with me to thrifts) was SO grateful to get the dresser and be done with it, rather than driving and shopping and shlepping...

plus, one of the boys re-purposed the shell of the dresser and he now has a storage cabinet for his guitars. cool..

It's interesting how a little creative repurposing can make all the difference.

I was pretty much totally skunked these past few thrift store visits.  It did find a Klipsch subwoofer, and had to finagle an amp to power it.  I got it dialed in last night, but I'm not sure if it was worth the effort.  It sounds okay, but I wouldn't buy another.

See you next time
bye for now

I found some pretty collector plates yesterday from the mid seventies.  I don't usually like this kind of plate but the scenes were beautiful with animals and birds and the price was right only $2.00 per plate.  And best of all I have to perfect place to put them.
When I got home I checked prices on them and they are worth about $30.00 a piece.  So it was a good thrift day for me.
