I was at my local Goodwill today.  They opened late today at 4pm for their goodnight sale.  They are open 4 - 11 and everything in the store is 50% off.  I was a little disapointed though because the past week they have been pricing stuff higher than they usually do, so its really not a 50% off sale.  I only bought one thing, a Bissell Little Green Clean Machine for $3.  I wanted something small to clean the carpets in my car and truck.  The place was jam packed with customers, and right before 4 the line was wrapped all the way around the building.

Awesome!
We have yet to do a "late" sale like that. Here in FL, you're lucky to find any business opened past 9pm.

I can tell you that my sister has one and its the perfect thing when the cat throws up on the rug.  I've seen her grab it and do quick cleanups.  I was just looking for something to clean the carpets in the cars without hauling out the big steam cleaners for doing the rugs in the house.

I have one of those Green Machines; mine cost more than $3 though!  You got a good deal.  I absolutely love it.  It's perfect for cleaning smaller items.  So that will be perfect for those small cleaning jobs when you don't want to haul out the big one.  Hubby has used it to clean up when he's spilled his coffee all over the carpet.  It does great.  Congrats on such a good deal.

Thanks, and to think I almost bought one earlier today at another thrift!  I think it was $9.99 in the other store.

Yup, you got a great buy! I love my Little Green. Even at $9.99 it would have been a good deal.

Hmm - no Goodnight sales at any of my Goodwills.

But while I was out this weekend I did manage to get a refurbed Bissell SpotLifter for $20 at a Big Lots! store. Lots of steam cleaners in thrifts, but I'm never sure if they work, or what they've been through, so I pass on 'em.

I love my Big Lots!  They know me by name when I walk in.  I do a lot of grocery shopping at Big Lots, and so does my Mom  They are hard to beat for prices on breakfast cereal.  The funny thing is Mom goes to Big Lots, then in the parking lot she takes all the orange stickers off everything and puts it in Safeway bags.  Dad doesn't like Big Lots food because he thinks its so cheap something must be wrong with it.

I plugged in the steam cleaner and the motor ran before I checked out so it should work fine.  I think I'll try it out today.  I've not shampooed the carpets in my truck since I've purchased it almost 2 years ago and there are a couple of coffee and ice tea splashes here and there.  The Buick really needs it though, I've not shampooed the carpets in about 10 years.

Oh, boy ... do we ever need one of those! Thanks for the tip. I'm gonna be on the lookout now.

Well, I tried it out today and despite a slight leak in the seal on the cleaning solution bottle it worked great.  I think I can rework the seal on the bottle so it won't leak at all, but since I bought it for cleaning the cars the fact that some cleaning solution leaks on the driveway is not a problem to me.  If it was in the house I'd just suck it up with the vacuum hose so there it wouldn't be that much of a problem either.  I had no idea the truck's carpets were that dirty, but the collected water was black.  I had to refill the solution bottle twice to do the truck, but that was pretty easy as the bottle is small and lightweight.  It holds about a liter.  Cleanup was simple at the end because the machine was so small.  Well worth the $3.
