Just when I thought spring was just around the corner, another snowstorm hits!  Needless to say there was no thrifting today.  The first church sale of the season is scheduled for this weekend though.  It is a church right down the street, the sale is advertised as a "Cabin Fever Craft & Collectible Sale".  I hope it is a good one, I am guessing it will be mobbed as there has been nothing interesting here for months.  The last sale at this church back in the fall was pretty good, I got this box of Shiney Brites for 25 cents.

I hope I find something good, I definitely have cabin fever!

I can't wait for good weather!  TShopping around here had been grim this winter.  Not as many donations, weather bad, streets and sidewalks icy.  YUK!  Can't wait for warmer weather and yard sales, church sales, street sales.  On the up side, first day of spring is only a couple of weeks away!

those shiny brites are sweet! you almost paid original price for them i see..

cabin fever is bad here too - we finally got the rains we so desperately need, and i've now got water threatening to flood the garage! we had to move all kinds of stuff back, in hopes it will stay dry. it is lots and lots of boxes to go to the thrift store! i just cleaned everything out, and now it's all back in!!!!!

I know how you feel!  A few weeks ago there was a little flurry of interesting donations and I got four pink Dogwood depression glass plates for 2 bucks, and there was that whole collection of souvenir plates that I wish I had bought, or some of them anyway.  Now it is back to deadsville.

One of the Salvation Army stores did revive the Christmas section today though.  I got a huge snowglobe for my daughters snowglobe collection.  I was going to pass on it at first because she has quite a few Christmas ones, but then saw it was marked 99 cents!  Like I said it is huge & has a Santa strapped to a rocket ship orbiting around the moon in the globe.  The moon lights up & there is a music box that plays "Fly Me to the Moon".  Around the base are various animals in space suits and a bear in a space saucer at the top.  I always find the strangest snowglobes at the Salvation Army!

I have only found one Dogwood piece before, a cereal bowl for 99 cents.  The cereal bowls are harder to find.  The plates I just got are the 8 inch lunch plates, those are more common.  I would like to find some Dogwood in green, I never see green or yellow depression glass, only chipped pieces.  I have found quite a bit of pink and once I found some amethyst dishes in the Newport or "Hairpin" pattern.  I was at a yard sale a few years ago where they had quite a few green & vaseline glass pieces.  they were not priced too badly, I should have picked up some.  If only I could go back & get all the great yard sale/thrift store items I passed up!

Shocked  OHHH!  I am sooooo ready for rummage sales!!!  I can't stand it much longer.  We only have one thrift store in our town and I have told you that they took all of the toys off of the shelves.  I went to an auction a couple of weeks ago, just to break the monotony... In the toy dept. all I bought was a bag of marbles.  I also got several old dishes, some artwork and some antique chairs.  I was just telling a friend that this is the perfect time for churches to have their big group sales.  People would mob the place and they would make so much more money.  I wish that this idea would come to my town.....glad that someone else is getting to break out of the cabin and rush down to the church sale.  I'm keeping my eagle eyes open for the first rummage sale signs.
