It's good for your soul- Be Thrifty

« on: October 26, 2009, 07:58:15 PM »

Life is odd when most friends are on unemployment. I myself am on self-imposed under-employment, but it does allow for camping and thrifting. So today I proclaimed it to be a "3 thrifts in 3 Hours Day", but it turned out to be a "5 thrifts in 3 hours". A friend and I went looking for deals on cargo pants, but came back with cds (of course), some garden things, and vintage greeting cards for a friend. This was in Lebanon, PA and we're hoping to do a similar day in Eastern Lancaster Co next week.

That's some smooth moves. I would take longer just to find the items I went for in one. LOL! Sounds like you should have had the Guiness World Book of Records along.

As a granny I like to take my time. My sis, 2 years younger takes even longer. She looks at absolutely everything in the store. She is also the person who bought a dishware set for $30 and sold it piece by piece on eBay for over $1K. The girl has a gift.

How do you go thru the CDs so fast?

I spend a lot of time in used cd stores, so I guess I've trained me eye to work well with the smaller type on the thin side of the jewel cases. I also note record labels; some will be wht I'm looking for and other labels will not get a second glance.

My pet peeve about cds is that most stores don't separate music cds from computer discs and most do not thrown out the homemade-burned cds. But it is always a fun hunt.

Someday I think I'll do some ebay selling. Your friends story is very interesting. I just don't know if I would have the patience to part items out like that.

Keep on thrifting!

Have you ever been to Tom's Music Trade in York?

I have never been there, but they seem to have a lot of old records and music memorabilia.

Wow...that looks like some serious competition for Record Connection in Ephrata.
