Hello!

My name is Molly.  I live in South Burlington, Vermont with my boyfriend Chris and our two crazy, spoiled Siamese cats Victor and Bea.  I am so excited to find this forum and I'm looking forward to exploring it thoroughly!

A lot of people are moving out of Vermont because the cost of living is so high and there is a shortage of decent-paying jobs.  I try to help people out by telling them about thrifting - but I find everyone is either really excited about it or they just say NO to the whole concept!

It looks like there are only five stores listed in the ThriftShopper directory for the Burlington area. I hope I can help supplement because there are lots more than that!

I like thrift shopping and crafting/fixing stuff instead of buying new to save money; to find beautiful, fun, surprising, bizarre, unique items and gifts; and perhaps most of all because I feel like it is an ethical way to shop.  It is better for the environment, better for global human rights, and better for the local economy.

Hi Molly, I'm a relative newby here too. It's a terrific site. I lived in southern Maine for a year, & I remember some good thrift shops there, but have been in Anchorage, Ak since 93 & we don't get quite the level of stuff that some places get, I think. At least the older stuff. I still love thrifting though. Most of my hundreds of books were thrifted, as well as a few clothes & misc. This site is cool cause you can rate the shops in your area, plus add new ones. Some fascinating subjects come up also, as you can see from the threads. cya, barb

Molly:

1. Welcome--you fit right in!

2. Gorgeous puddy-cat! Like Oceangurl, I have four kats and no kids (but do four kats, houseplants, and a husband equal, maybe a 1/2 a kid?) Cheesy

Loved reading your bio...and look forward to reading your thrift adventures!

Glad you found this site.  I live near the Vermont border, just south of Brattleboro.  I always wondered if it was worth visiting thrifts, flea markets in S. Vermont.  Of course Burlington is way up there so you probably don't get down that way too often.  I know a few people up in Burlington, but have never gone up there.  Looking forward to hearing about what they have to offer up there!

Welcome!  Glad to meet a fellow Vermonter although technically I am a Floridian even though I lived the longest in Vermont.  I live in TN now.

I also have 2 wonderful cats-Maurice and Minnie!

I am very familar with VT especially Burlington.... I lived in Essex Jct for 3 years(2-4th grade) and then from 5th-college in Newport, VT... My parents moved out of VT but I have 2 brothers living in Burlington... I've spent a lot of time at the University mall as a kid... Thats where we went Christmas shopping.  Now I live in TN...  Planning a trip to Burlington for my brother's wedding next year... I'm sure I'll be stopping at the thrift stores:)

Hi,my name is Alexandra and I live in Florida.
I'm pretty new to thrifting but I have been to tons of garage sales.
Im very, very limited on cash, and also transportation so I have to find places that are very close to my house.
I love drawing and i write a lot of poetry and music.
I listen mostly to alternative but I also listen to a lot more.   Cheesy
