Cookie and I decided to go east then north of us to St. Augustine to spend the night and next day enjoying some time together. On the way to St. Augustine is Daytona Beach. I had gone there to surf many times as well as some night clubbing and of course Spring Break. I haven't been in many years and had never been to thrift.
I planned the thrift route in advance with two AAA city maps, one for St. Augusting and one Daytona.
We left Friday at about 10:00 am and got to the first thrift store about 11.
The first shop we hit was The White Chapel Church Thrift on Seagrave. It was a pefrect meduim sized church thrift store. They had just done some renovations and the place was immaculate. The staff was extremely friendly and around every corner they had great stuff to look through. We bought a few things and then went on to our next store.
The way Daytona Beach and the surrounding towns are set up makes it very easy to plan out, basically you can drive in a big rectangle with only a few offshoots from 2 major roads that parallel eachother.
We shopped for a total of 7 hours, and hit 13 shops. We also found 2 we didn't even know about and added many more to the directory. We're going back in the not too distant future because there are 25 charity thrifts within 15 miles of one another. If anyone lives near or is going to travel near Daytona Beach I highly recommend at least a full day to thrift your brains out.
We just added Thrifter Blogs to the site and we'll detail the trip more with some pictures and lots more writing from both of us.
I'll set up the blogs tomorrow and everyone will be able to write about whatever they want.
