In Sedalia, Missouri I have 2 Salvation Army Thrift Stores and next month we are opening another in Warrensburg which is about 35 miles away.  We sell automobiles, appliances, furniture, electronics, new, old and collectible items.  We have very nice clothing from name brand to new clothes with the tags still on them.  We have other thrift stores in town come in and buy our merchandise to turn around and resell it in their private owned stores.  Salvation Army helps many people - we also provide community service the court sends us many workers to fulfill their commitment to the court for time served.  We just had a tornade take out around 100 homes in our area so we serviced many of those with appliances, furniture and clothing and one family was able to get a car we had on hand.  We serve people daily inside one of the thrift stores we have our social service department they give out food, help with water and utility deposits, help with prescription purchases, and any other assistance many need.  I love my job and it is very rewarding and the whole crew works hard to make our store look like a little shop.
