I need to know what the rest of you are doing about the CPSC required lead testing. At this point, we carry NO children's items, including clothing. This hurts our business badly, since all the rest of the stores in town do carry children's items. We are quite literally the only ones following this absurd law. Customers get downright irate about it, and think we're lying about it because it sounds ludicrous.
Are there any industry lawyers lobbying congress? I'm stunned that the big name stores haven't fought this law more agreesively since they have been fined milions already.

On January 8 2009 the CPSC issued an important clarification of the CPSIA requirements. Read about it here: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/pending/cpsia.asp
