Does anyone buy records anymore?
should we be at all concerned about either record condition or jacket condition, or just put out what we have for sale.

At my store some people buy the records just for the jackets, so if the record has a good jacket and a bad record i sometimes keep them to sell, depending on the title. if the record jacket is in tough or bad shape it's kinda up to your discretion. if it's a great record with a bad jacket i sell them. records seem to be making some what of a comeback. i also can't keep a working record player in the store, they sell great!

good luck

I'll give that philosophy a whirl.

Thanks!

Not only do records sell but so do the 8 tracks - remember alot of people shop thrift stores to finish out something they already have and can't buy at the local Walmart - and yes record players or 8 track players bring in good money - again we sell the records and the jackets

I've managed thrift stores in New York and here in Northern Virginia. Records are very popular right now. Unless they come in with an inch of dust or mold, I have them put right on to the floor. I don't sort or throw out. I have several guys that come in weekly that will sort thru and throw out the junk for me. Some will ask if I have any out back to come in and since they are usually heavy, I tell them sure if you want to bring them in, they can have first pick. And the buyers run the gambit. From the teenagers that like the cover art to the oldtimers that want the albums to go back to their younger days. It's funny to watch these buyers because they will sit on the floor for hours going through my selection. I charge .99 each record. When they get old I have a sales and clear them out. some records are VERY collectible.
